- Concrete: Concrete is basically a mixtures of aggregates (sand and gravel or crushed stone) and paste (water and portland cement). Through a process known as hydration, the cement and water harden and bind the aggregates together, thus forming concrete. This durable material is excellent for sidewalks, curbs, dumpster pads, and similar structures because of its strength and its ability to hold up well to the elements.
