Winter May Not be the Best Time
It’s well-known that it’s cheaper to contract pavement services in the winter, so it’s tempting to have sealcoating done in the winter. However, winter weather is hardly ideal for this process. The sealcoat process requires temperatures between 50°F and 85°F. Winter’s cold temperatures, often below freezing, do not meet these criteria. Applying the sealcoating in temperatures below or above the specified temperatures can result in damage to the pavement.
PTG enterprises recommends applying sealcoating between the months of March and November in Baltimore. From a temperature standpoint, these months have the most suitable days for sealcoating to be applied. Also, your pavement would then be already armored against the winter’s first snowstorm.

And it lasts for two to seven years, depending on how heavy the traffic and elements are on your lot. It’s a lot cheaper to have sealcoating applied than to keep having potholes filled or lots repaved. Plus, it not only keeps your lot from looking damaged, it also keeps it looking nice and new. The benefits of sealcoating go on; but mainly, it provides a sturdy layer of protection to your asphalt, a layer of protection that shouldn’t be skipped.
