Are you tired of constantly buying chemicals in order to rid your pavement of weeds? It can be a chore to remove them by hand, and power washing can sometimes damage pavement. Weeds can crack pavement and damage it, as well as causing other issues like tripping hazards. It’s also pretty ugly once the weeds grow in too much, and then you’ve got a huge problem on your hands. So, how can you prevent the growth before it starts? Read on to find out!
Proper Drainage
Weeds and plants need moisture in order to grow. So, if your pavement is in a valley or a depressed area, moisture will collect and encourage weeds to take root. To prevent this, keep your paved areas well-drained through perforated pavement or other means.
Regular Cleaning
If drainage isn’t possible for you, then you should regularly be sweeping your pavement of any debris. This will prevent seeds from entering the cracks of your pavement. It can also keep your pavement looking fresh and clean all the time! No debris means there won’t be rotting, which can also damage pavement.
Don’t Use Chemicals
Using chemicals on weeds to remove them is often bad for the environment, and can hurt animals if they ingest it. There are plenty of natural, harmless ways to remove weeds without chemicals. Even something as simple as boiling water can kill weeds and plants! Basic vinegar is also acidic enough to kill roots. It’s also a lot cheaper than going out and buying chemical removers.
