- Plan for bad weather and ensure the working environment and concrete maintains proper temperatures.
- Low slump concrete can be a great alternative for cold weather flatwork.
- Consider using concrete mixes containing accelerated admixtures or Type III Hi-Early cement, which require shorter protection time from freezing.
- Utilize a heated mix or order 100 lbs of extra cement for each cubic yard of concrete to help develop early strength.
