Dangers On Paving Job Sites
Being a worker on an asphalt paving crew can be a dangerous job, as large machines and hazardous equipment are used on the job site. Unfortunately, there are many injuries every year in the paving industry related to equipment operation. While a lot of accidents involve the operator of the machinery, many accidents involve co-workers and others on the ground who get too close to the equipment. This is why we take job site safety so seriously and make it our top priority to ensure everyone’s safety at all times.
OSHA and MOSH Training
One of the most important ways we make safety our top priority is by requiring training and continued education for our employees. Every employee must complete up-to-date on safety training and the latest industry trends. Our employees are also required to participate in annual OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and MOSH (Maryland Occupational Safety and Health) safety training.
Daily Safety Briefings
Before any job takes place, we conduct a pre-construction safety briefing to ensure all of our workers know the protocol. Also, we conduct daily briefings to notify the crew of hazards and emergency procedures, and provide emergency response plans for any hazards workers may face on the job site. PTG also holds monthly meetings to discuss new safety regulations and trends in the industry.
Protective Equipment
Personal protective equipment (PPE) and apparel are crucial on a construction job site. All machinery and equipment must also receive regular maintenance and inspections to ensure they are up to code and safe for our crews.
